Food LiteracyProgram Description
Event Details
The upcoming fall is a great time to get out in the woods and take a look around. During this time of year, with the right conditions, mushrooms explode, and many species can be seen, some of which are choice edible species.
Join wildlife biologist Marvin Bouknight to learn more about mushrooms, their biology, what species can be found this time of year, and how to identify them. This program is geared for adults and children 10 or older with a caregiver. Register online at yclibrary.org or call 803-831-7774. Limit 30.
*Please note this program will NOT teach mushroom foraging skills. Foraging and eating wild mushrooms can be DANGEROUS and it is not the purpose of this program. It is for education and entertainment ONLY. *
This program aligns with YCL’s food literacy framework, which addresses the ability to understand the impact of food choices on health, the environment, and the economy.
