Art Around the World

Color Your World at the library this summer! Join us at the York Public Library for an afternoon of art and exploration as we travel around the world without even leaving the library. We'll learn about different countries and cultures through art, snacks, and activities. Ages 6-11. Register online or call (803) 684-3751 beginning May 27th. Please register each child individually as space is limited. 

This program aligns with YCL’s arts and creativity literacy framework, which addresses the ability to understand art history, styles, techniques, the ways to discuss art and learning through creative expression, creative activities, visualization, and creative thinking; YCL's cultural literacy framework, which addresses the ability to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences in the customs, values, and beliefs of one's own culture and the cultures of others; YCL's food literacy framework, which addresses the ability to understand the impact of food choices on health, the environment, and the economy; YCL's information and media literacy framework, which addresses the ability to seek, evaluate, use, and create information effectively to achieve personal, social, occupational, or educational goals. and YCL’s social and emotional literacy framework, which addresses the ability to “read,” recognize, and respond appropriately to emotions and feelings in oneself and in others; likewise learning how to build and maintain respectful relationships.
