Program Description

Event Details

York County Library is excited to unveil a unique new environmental sculpture. This event, hosted in partnership with Keep York County Beautiful and PalmettoPride, promotes litter awareness and highlights how art can inspire positive change.

The stunning centerpiece is a crane created by Environmental Sculptures artists Jim Swain and Paul Quirk, known for designing pieces that raise awareness about plastic pollution and environmental sustainability.

Free prize giveaways courtesy of Keep York County Beautiful will be available while supplies last. Families are also invited to a special preschool storytime, inspired by the crane and its significance in nature, prior to the unveiling at 10:30 a.m. inside the library. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience the power of art and storytelling.

This program aligns with YCL’s arts and creativity literacy framework, which addresses the ability to understand art history, styles, techniques, the ways to discuss art, and learning through creative expression, creative activities, visualization, and creative thinking.
