**NOTE: THIS PRESENTATION WILL NOT BE HELD AT THE LIBRARY, BUT AT LAURELWOOD CEMETERY IN ROCK HILL.
THIS IS THE MAKE UP/RAIN DATE FOR THIS PROGRAM!
It's been said that you can learn a lot about a town by its cemeteries. Join local author and historian Pat Grant and historians Chip Hutchison and Gary Williams at Laurelwood Cemetery in Rock Hill, the city's oldest. They'll share stories about it, the "residents" there and other local tales about RH.
The Old Section of Laurelwood was established in 1872. Most of the Founding Families of Rock Hill, who were significant in the history and development of Rock Hill, are buried here.
To register, you must leave some form of contact, in case of needing to change the date or time.
PARKING: Meet in parking lot behind the Williams-Ivory Cultural Center at 332 West Main Street in Rock Hill.
There are two entrances from West Main Street into the Cemetery, plus an entrance from Stewart Avenue. You may park in the lot behind the Williams-Ivory Center. Should the parking lot be full, parking along the edge of the cemetery road is allowed, just leave room for other cars to pass.
Please wear comfortable walking/standing shoes as some of this walk may be on uneven ground and/or have steps.
This program aligns with YCL’s cultural literacy framework, which addresses the ability to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences in the customs, values, and beliefs of one’s own culture the cultures of others.
