Event Details
Reading aloud helps young students expand their vocabulary and improve comprehension. A friendly face, particularly one accompanied by a wagging tail, can help ease reading jitters and build self-confidence in readers who want extra practice. School-age children are invited to practice reading in short sessions in a circle-style setting with a literacy therapy dog. Registration is required. Ages 6-10. Register online or call 981-5888, starting two weeks before each program. Limit 10.
This program aligns with YCL's social and emotional literacy framework, which addresses the ability to "read," recognize, and respond appropriately to emotions and feelings in oneself and in others; likewise, learning how to build and maintain respectful relationships.
