**NOTE: THIS PRESENTATION WILL NOT BE HELD AT THE LIBRARY, BUT AT LAURELWOOD CEMETERY IN ROCK HILL.
It's been said that you can learn a lot about a town by its cemeteries. Join local author and historian Pat Grant and historian Chip Hutchison for a walking tour through Rock Hill's Laurelwood Cemetery, the city's oldest (est. 1872). They'll share stories about the cemetery and its "residents," some of whom are the city's founders, and other local tales about Rock Hill.
Makeup/rain date is Saturday, May 31, at 2 p.m. To register, you must leave some form of contact information in case of schedule changes.
PARKING: Meet in the parking lot behind the Williams-Ivory Cultural Center at 332 West Main Street in Rock Hill.
There are two entrances from West Main Street into the cemetery, plus an entrance from Stewart Avenue. You may park in the lot behind the Williams-Ivory Center. Should the parking lot be full, parking along the edge of the cemetery road is allowed — just leave room for other cars to pass.
Please wear comfortable walking/standing shoes, as some of this walk may be on uneven ground and/or have steps.
This program aligns with YCL’s cultural literacy framework, which addresses the ability to understand and appreciate the similarities and differences in the customs, values, and beliefs of one’s own culture and the cultures of others.
