DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free celebration that connects reading with back
 -to-school! Author Derrick Barnes will kick off the bash with an inspiring
  presentation designed to spark creativity, boost literacy, and introduce 
 young readers to the real person behind the story.  Derrick Barnes is a t
 hree-time NY Times Bestselling author of over twenty groundbreaking, multi
 -award-winning children's books. His work has made him a National Boo
 k Award Finalist, a Newbery Honoree, a three-time Coretta Scott King Honor
 ee, and the only two-time Kirkus Prize-winning author. Each child will als
 o receive a bag filled with school supplies and a complimentary signed boo
 k by Derrick Barnes. For ages 4-10, accompanied by an adult. No drop-offs
 , please. Registration is limited to 50 children and starts July 23. Child
 ren must be present to receive the school supplies. This program aligns w
 ith YCL's information and media literacy framework, which addresses t
 he ability to see, evaluate, use, and create information effectively to ac
 hieve personal, social, occupational, and educational goals.
